Quick question about timing

Ok, so I've been timing my runs for a while now but now that I''m planning to submit to the leaderboards I need to be a little more strict about how I do things. We stop the timer when Faith kicks Jacknife out of the helicopter (this part isn't hard to understand), but I've noticed that if you reach...

Re: Glitchless Beginner's Tutorial? (help wanted)

Thanks! I'm still waiting for some hardware to arrive before I can make a recording, so it could be a week or two before I have anything to show you. I'll post back here when I do.

Glitchless Beginner's Tutorial? (help wanted)

I'm finally approaching times around 1 hour in my glitchless runs (My current PB is ~1:01:30 and I estimate I'll break 1:00:00 in the next week or so, because there's a huge mistake in that run) and so I've finally got around to purchasing a capture card to get my times on the leaderboard. That got ...

Re: Chapter 1 elevator skip?

I was messing around trying to get my recording setup working and this happened again, so I figured I'd post the full chapter run in case its useful for someone trying to figure out how to avoid this or looking for a potential skip. The video is here and starts from the beginning of the chapter (del...

Chapter 1 elevator skip?

So before I begin I should state a few things: - I've only been running glitchless so far and my PB time is pretty mediocre (1:06 RTA), so you can be assured that I'm not doing anything particularly special. - My computer is plenty good enough to run the game, so this isn't causing it. - I haven't d...

Re: Fun with reaction time

No, it was a general comment. That said, you can set Faith's running speed and acceleration in the game files somewhat easily, but I doubt it'd be that useful.

Re: Enemy locking removal

For what it's worth, I disagree. Speedrunning is about playing the game that you've got and the risk/reward decisions that come with that. If you're going to fix that, then there's a precedent for removing every slow/boring/annoying thing in the game and you end up running something very different t...

Re: Fun with reaction time

Okay, this kind of relates: I watched a video of someone's PB for 40 minutes at 2x speed. When I went to play Mirror's Edge (at normal speed obviously), my brain went to crap. Everything seemed extremely laggy and slow, I got a little motion sick, and it was an overall weird experience. I play figh...

Re: Mirror's Edge, You Suck.

Firstly, I should state that I've never had the issue that you've described here. Are you doing anything unusual with your setup? Do you have your mouse plugged into a USB port on your keyboard? Are either your keyboard or mouse plugged into USB1.1 instead of USB2.0 ports? Do either of those devices...

Re: KBAM on PS3: allowed?

I can't see anything wrong with it, as it doesn't really let you do anything that you wouldn't be able to on the PC version. I'd suggest you read the criticism of the device in the first Amazon review, though - I can see the mouse not working quite as intuitively as you'd expect.
