How many of you use the free-scrolling wheel?
How many of you use the free-scrolling wheel?
I never use free-scroll unless I have to (chapter 3 first elevator, might turn it on if I kickglitch while in reaction time, as I find the timing harder). It seems like the majority of speedrunners use free-scroll all the time though. So, do you use free-scroll while speedrunning or not?
Re: How many of you use the free-scrolling wheel?
The mousewheel of my Logitech G500 already scrolls very easily even without the freescroll mode, so I use that for the most part. But since I can switch it on the fly, I use freescroll mode for long wallboost sequences like blue wall in ch4 as well as for kickglitching in slomo and honkevator in ch3.
I would use freescroll mode all the time, but it is too scary because the mouse wheel tends to move unintentionally. I can avoid that by scrolling forward all the time, could probably practice that.

Re: How many of you use the free-scrolling wheel?
What sucks with my mouse is that the button for switching to freescroll is on the bottom side of the mouse, and because of that I almost always have to pause the game to use freescroll. Therefore, I tend to avoid it as much as I can.
A bit off-topic, but I also have this weird combination of doing regular jumps with both the spacebar and by scrolling. To me, some jumps just feels right to do by pressing spacebar, while other jumps feels right to do by scrolling. And I'm usually not in doubt either, I can tell straight away if a random jump is a spacebar jump or a scroll jump :P

I have freescroll, I only use it for the chapter 3 elevator though :3

I'll always be on free scroll when I'm running, I find it super convenient and to keep it from making me jump on random points I just rest my finger on the wheel. Works a charm.

I only use Freescroll on Honkevator and during slowmo KGs, but I mostly got it because even without the freescroll active the scrollwheel is very "loose"
Having the button on the underside of the mouse is probably the most retarded design decision yet by Logitech

I dont have a freescroll mouse and see no need to get one anytime soon
Re: How many of you use the free-scrolling wheel?
I'm thinking of getting one, since I can't KG at all. Not sure yet. If I don't decide to I probably will for those parts anywaySwartt wrote:I only use Freescroll on Honkevator and during slowmo KGs, but I mostly got it because even without the freescroll active the scrollwheel is very "loose"
